Understanding what’s in that Pain
We have all felt pain at some time in our life. Pain is a part of life, but allowing pain to linger doesn’t have to be. It’s important not to ignore that pain, because doing so could make it worse.
Of course, we understand that the last thing you want to do is take time out of your busy schedule to make an appointment with your doctor. You don’t want to hear them tell you to take a certain type of medication, stay off your feet, or do certain exercises. You can’t afford that right now.
Still, it’s important that you do something about that pain. Well, depending on where you feel that pain, it might be Sciatica. You will have to go to your doctor, or better yet your upper cervical chiropractor, in order for them to examine your upper neck vertebrae.
Below are some indicators that be warning signs of this condition:
Sciatica Symptoms
- Lower back pain
- Buttock pain
- Tingling in the leg
- Difficulty moving your leg
- Numbness
- A sensation of pins and needles
- Pain or weakness in parts of your leg or foot
What’s in Sciatica?
Extending from your lower back through your buttock and down both of your legs, each of your Sciatic Nerves ( one for each leg )consists of five nerve roots (spinal nerve roots) that are attached to your spine. Sciatica occurs when either the Sciatic Nerve or one of the five nerve roots is compressed or irritated.
Though, this condition is just the symptom of what is causing your pain, but it’s important to know what it is that’s causing that pressure on your Sciatic Nerve or Nerve roots. Medication can’t do that. Medication can only numb the pain temporarily.
Of course, there are many conditions that can cause Sciatica including Spinal Disc Herniation, Spinal Stenosis, Piriformis Syndrome, Pregnancy, or various other things such as a tumor or car accident.
Healing From Sciatica
If you recently experienced or have been diagnosed with one of the above, it’s important that you see an upper cervical chiropractor before it turns into Sciatica. If you’ve been diagnosed with Sciatica, it could be the result of one of the above.
Whatever the case, all of that pain is most likely the result of a head or neck injury in which your upper cervical spine—the top two vertebrae in your upper neck—became misaligned. A misalignment of only ¼ of a millimeter in those two bones hinder the brain’s ability to communicate with the body via the brainstem, leading to various health problems throughout the body. The good news is an Upper Cervical Chiropractor can examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments and make the necessary adjustments so the brain can begin to properly communicate with the body once again.
