I always love spring. I enjoy the winter as well, when the trees lose their leaves and the air is crisp. Plants have a chance to hibernate and rejuvenate.
Spring is a reminder of new life. We see lambs as well as other baby animals being born. We see new bright green leaves on trees and plants. I love watching the Japanese maple spring back to life in my back yard, as well as witnessing the tulip, daffodil and narcissus bulbs come up.
It has been 8 days since spring has officially been upon us and I’ve been reflecting on the new growth and new life that we witness, wondering if the new growth is in my life as well. The answer is “yes”. I have been actively learning and implementing healthy actions in my life. I believe that we need to be constantly paying attention to increasing our health all year, not just in spring or at the New Year. However, spring is a time to re-evaluate.
Spring cleaning and gardening make our houses look better, but what about our person? Even if we simply increase our water intake, drinking half our body weight in ounces of water each day, we increase our health. Choose one thing to work on, either eliminating a food or beverage that is less than beneficial, or adding an activity or food to increase our health potential. Decide to go to bed earlier, or minimize the caffeine you drink, or remove hydrogenated oils from your diet.
Let us follow suit with the birds and trees and the rest of Nature and begin (or continue) growing!
