Ongoing Neck Pain
In our previous post, we looked into everyday things you might do that could lead to that pain in your neck. However, it may not be because of anything you did. That neck pain may just be because of injury or a medically related condition.
Since the more you don’t know, the worse off you are, we are going to inform you in this blog about some of those injuries and medically related conditions that may be the source of your neck pain.
Injuries and Conditions that cause neck pain
Have you ever “missed a step”? We don’t mean missing a step, as in a step in a process, but we do mean doing something such as walking down stairs and missing a step. That or tripping over something can be the underlying cause of neck pain. It’s surprising but true that such minor events can affect the cervical spine severely, as well as can some of these other occurrences.
- Falling – Falling can always lead to neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, and more
- Whiplash – This can be the result of a rear-end collision at only 5 MPH, but it can also be the result of a sports injury or any other type of injury in which your neck muscles extend beyond their normal range of motion
- Collisions – Being hit in the face or the back of the top of the head
- Sports–Related Injury – There are various sports injuries, such as from playing tennis or even bowling, that could lead to a person overextending their neck muscles
Upper Cervical and Your Neck Pain
Now that you know the dangers of climbing ladders, it might be worth investing that $20 to get that neighbor kid to put up Christmas lights for you. We don’t want you to injure yourself, and part of that means informing you of scenarios that may lead you to experiencing neck pain.
Of course, it doesn’t matter what caused you to suffer from that sore neck. What does matter is that you do something about it. An upper cervical chiropractor can examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments that might be the underlying cause of that pain in your neck. It only takes a misalignment of ¼ of a millimeter in those top two bones in the neck to hinder the brain’s ability to communicate with the body, but the good news is that an upper cervical chiropractor can examine the upper cervical spine for any misalignments. They will then make any needed adjustments in order to realign those top two bones, thus allowing for the brain to be able to communicate with the body once again.
